The Tigers designated pitcher Dontrelle Willis for assignment over the weekend and the left-hander is already thinking about where he'll pitch next.
Willis reportedly wants to pitch for a West Coast team and a friend told FOX Sports that he's high on the Diamondbacks.
Arizona's team ERA of 5.95 is the worst in the majors.
Willis was 1-2 with a 4.98 ERA in nine games this year.
Bruney Drawing Interest From Teams
Free-agent reliever Brian Bruney is drawing interest from a number of teams.
Bruney, formerly of the Yankees and Nationals, has dealt with control issues.
Giants Could Sign Burrell To Minors Deal
The Giants could sign veteran Pat Burrell to a minor-league contract as early as Saturday.
There are still some issues to work out, but the Mercury News reports that an agreement is forthcoming.
Burrell, who grew up in the Bay Area, would be sent to Triple-A Fresno to be evaluated.
Burrell In Talks With Giants
The Giants are in talks with Pat Burrell about a minor league deal, according to a report from Buster Olney of ESPN.
RealGM Note: Burrell had a .625 OPS in 96 plate appearances for the Rays this season.
Jeter's Production Could Affect Contract
Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter is currently headed for the worst offensive season of his career.
He is hitting .276/.320/.716, career-lows since he tasted the major leagues in 1995.
Jeter isn't having a terrible season and there is still time for him to boost those numbers, but Buster Olney of ESPN writes that his production could alter contract talks.
He is currently in the final year of his contract.
Olney writes that it's hard to see New York offering him a four or five-year deal at one of the game's highest salaries if his numbers remain where they are.
Rockies Interested In Kazuo Matsui
The Rockies may be interested in second baseman Kazuo Matsui once he clears waivers, according to a source.
Matsui struggled with the Astros this season and was let go on Wednesday.
He was a key member of Colorado's World Series run in 2007.
Giants, Padres Interested In Burrell
Pat Burrell has cleared waivers and is already receiving interest from two National League clubs.
Burrell was a long-time member of the Phillies before spending a disappointing season-plus with the Rays.
"I'm hearing chatter that Pat Burrell has received interest from Giants and Padres and could be weighing offers. He'll cost the minimum," Andrew Baggarly wrote on his Twitter page.
Phillies, Pedro Still Discussing Reunion
Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. says that the team has remained in contact with free agent pitcher Pedro Martinez.
"We've had discussions," Amaro said. "He has interest in the Phillies. The Phillies have interest in him. It's just a matter of what makes sense and what's doable. We're keeping the lines of communication open. That's how we left it."
Cubs Interested In Signing Bob Howry
The Cubs have denied a report that they signed reliever Bob Howry after he cleared waivers on Wednesday, but they are interested in the right-hander.
Howry, who pitched for the Cubs before, signed a one-year, $2 million deal with the Diamondbacks, but was waived after allowing 17 runs in less than 15 innings.
He posted a 3.39 ERA for San Francisco last season in 63 appearances.
Burrell Clears Waivers, Becomes Free Agent
Pat Burrell has cleared waivers and is now a free agent.
Tampa Bay designated Burrell for assignment prior to Friday's Rays game against the Mariners.
Burrell struggled at the plate both seasons with the Rays and his average fell to .202 following an 0-for-4 after a game last week.
He is free to sign with any team.
